Homeschool Field Trips - A Visit to Our Local TV Station

A few months ago, I thought it would be fun to see how a TV station operates behind the scenes. After finding the contact number on the TV station's web site, I called their PR Rep and within 5 minutes we had a tour lined up.

My children toured the entire station and were even given a chance to report the weather in front of the green screen. They sat at the anchor desks and used the teleprompters.

It was such a valuable experience for my children. Now when we watch our local station, the children have a greater understanding of the involvement required to bring us our news.

A lesson I have learned from this is that it never hurts to place a phone call and ask for a tour.
