Here's a little cooking project that you can tie into teaching a winter theme. Snowman Rice Cakes!
My 4 1/2 year old son loved this snowman craft and ate his up afterward.
You will need:
Unflavored rice cakes.
Cream cheese softened. Strawberry flavored might be nice, too, if you want a pink snowman.
Small plates of raisins for eyes, dried cranberries for a nose and pretzel sticks for mouths and arms (or whiskers, or robot parts - your child can be very creative!)
The rice cake will basically be a snowman head with the option of adding arms out the side. You can vary the fruit, like use a dried apricot for the nose if want a larger nose, for example.
Set out all the ingredients you'll need to make your snowman, using butter knives to spread the cream cheese. Let the little ones do it all on their own - but you can show an example of how to spread the cream cheese on a broken piece - or make a snowman rice cake for yourself to enjoy, too.
I hope you enjoy this snowman craft as much as we did!
