Going to homeschool your young child? But when is the best time to start?
When you are thinking about teaching your child at home, it is difficult to know when to make that transition with your child.
You might think that it is never too early to start educating your child - or you might think that schools must have it right.
What age is the best age to start some homeschool?
So what is the true answer to this question?
The best age truly depends upon your child.
You have already been teaching your child at home - you helped them to walk and talk. You have been pointing out the names of things, showing them colors, showing them the world. Homeschooling is a natural extension of this when they are ready for it.
If you think they would like to look at letters - then show them. Talking about where granny lives? Get out a map. Cuddle up and read a story. Try some of these ideas and activities.
Yes, really. That is all there is to it.
Teaching your child at home doesn't have to be 'school'. You don't have to have a curriculum. Children want to learn everything, everywhere, everywhen!
But if you start pushing them too early then they will get fed up and turn off.
When children are young you should keep any 'formal' learning sessions short and sweet - and use their never ending interest in everything to show and tell them all about things. You will be amazed at how much learning will take place every day.
You child will tell you when he is ready to do more. And this is the best age to do step things up! You know your child better than anyone else. Trust yourself to spot the signals and know what age to start homeschooling your child.
